Club Review: The Piccadilly Institute

The Piccadilly Institute isn’t your average West End club. Described as a place where new experiences can be found, the six twisted and gorgeous rooms lead you through a maze of adventure.

A glass bar filled with naked dolls, iron faces, chemical equations scrawled across the walls, drinks served smoking in beakers and test tubes, huge recliner psychiatrist chairs, plastic people flying across the ceiling and gigantic disco balls are a few of the decorative highlights which make up the six rooms: Noir, Clinic, Shrink, Decadia, Fruitbox and Chamber. Each room has its own unique food and drink menu and the bar staff have separate uniforms, ranging from lab coats to nurse outfits. With something to suit every taste, the Piccadilly Institute basically offers six amazing clubs in one.

We reserved a table in Noir, a burlesque themed room…

Decadia is definitely a hit. It is loud, colourful, serves cocktails in rubik’s cubes, has its walls smothered in a mish-mash of vibrant music posters, plays 90s cheese and rock and boasts a light up dance floor which changes according to the music – what better way to get people jumping around? However, each room has its own bonuses. Fruitbox is a great area to take a break from the hustle and bustle and relax upstairs with an amazing view of Piccadilly amongst the jungle garden atmosphere and, as the night goes on, the crowds seem to head upwards and end up in Clinic, a vast, white space which soon becomes a packed dance floor.

The Piccadilly Institute has so much going on; it’s the ideal place for parties. Having cottoned on to this, party packages include the Gorgeous Birthday Extravaganza at £50 or the Twisted Birthday Extravaganza at £100. These include a reserved area, sweet treats, cupcakes, food platters and free entry. However, simpler options are available. We reserved a table in Noir, a burlesque themed room, where for £25 we were given free entry before 22:00 and a cocktail sharer of vodka, Chambord and prosecco served in a top hat. We also had the fun of a sparkly top hat and white glove to dress up in- perfect for photo opportunities! The only down side was that the 50% off happy hour, which supposedly lasted until 21:00, in fact ended at 19:00- slightly affecting our budgeting for the evening.

…I would definitely take a trip back to explore more of the elements…

A trip to the Piccadilly Institute is an experience more than just a night out. It seems they have thought of everything and I would definitely take a trip back to explore more of the elements I’m sure must be missed on a first visit and sample more of  the entertainingly named Bridget Jones cocktails and You Tubes shooters!
