Recipes: A Staple In Any Cocktail: Rum
Pin ItBeing a fond drinker of fine beverages, when my fellow friends arrive no night is complete without a round of cocktails. Now I’ve frequented some of the best bars in London for variations on the classics, but from all my drinking I have come to the conclusion that rum in a cocktail makes it that little bit better.
So here are three of my favourite rum cocktails that really show off the sweet and tasty essence of the spirit.
Ingredients
- . 2oz light rum
- . Juice of one lime
- . 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
- . Carbonated water
- . Lemon slice
- . Cocktail cherry
- . Ice cubes.
Instructions
- Shake the rum, lime juice and sugar and pour into a glass over ice.
- Fill glass with carbonated water.
- Decorate with lemon and cherry and serve.
Ingredients
- . 1/2 oz Light rum
- . 1/2 oz Gold rum
- . 1/2 oz Dark rum
- . 1/2 oz Orange liqueur
- . 1 oz grapefruit juice
- . 1 oz orange juice
- . 1 oz pineapple juice
Instructions
- Pour liquors into an ice-filled collins glass.
- Add juices.
- Shake.
- Garnish with an orange wedge and pineapple chunk.
Ingredients
- . 1 1/2 oz white rum
- . 1/4 oz maraschino liqueur
- . 1/2 oz grapefruit juice
- . 3/4 oz lime juice
- . 3/4 oz simple syrup
Instructions
- Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Of course there are other fantastic cocktails out there, but these three are something a little special and really show off the fantastic flavours of the rum. Don’t be put off by other drinks however, as a mojito goes down just as well and if made right will be a firm favourite for years to come.
