The film making duo known as tea&cheese have jumped on the Olympic bandwagon with their take on the swimmer legendary Mark Spitz.
Known predominantly for their Youtube hit 8-BIT Waterside in REAL LIFE in which a retro 8-bit character jumps on a water slide and is thrown through various environments you would see in the home (toilet, fridge, cooker), but shown in the old cartoon style of 80′s games and made with stop animation. The film went on to win awards and even coined the phrase that nerds alike would shout in large crowds “Super Mega Hyper Booster Pipe”.
…some arcade, 80’s glory in the shape of the Olympics…
With other interesting films (the Fourth of July shoot-em up is a favourite) it came as no surprise that the boys would bring us some arcade, 80’s glory in the shape of the Olympics. Harking from a time when games looked bright, had simple controls, but still were darn hard; tea&cheese have tapped into the inner child to create humour that brings a smile to our GB loving hearts.
Hopefully the duo will have more of the same to come and with news of a TV series being pitched to producers in Hollywood, more games and even more violence this probably won’t be the last time we here about tea&cheese. Let’s just hope that like the arcade games of the 80s they don’t fade into obscurity.
