skip garden cafeThe Chelsea Fringe Festival will be at the Kings Cross Skip Garden from this weekend for a series of events, workshops and all round good gardening experience.

The Skip Garden is a wonderful initiative that is built around growing fruit, vegetables and herbs in a skips. As the area gets developed the garden can be disassembled and moved to the next location, creating a sustainable eco-friendly garden. The operation is spearheaded by local contributors and Global Generation.

The cafe in the Skip Garden, Kings Cross CentralOn the weekend the garden will be open from 10am till 4pm and incorporate two 90 minute workshops (how to plant for the benefit of bees and growing plants in containers of small places), carpentry, lemonade and cream tea making and a story tent. Also Kings Cross is hosting a sports day to celebrate the opening of a new outdoor sports pitch.

Or if you just want to see the skips come down for home-made cakes, teas and a walk around the garden. It’s quite lovely.
