We asked one of our competition winners, Matthew Clayden, to let us know how the Chipmunk Album Launch Party went and he did so. Check out what went down:

The club was massive and the pristine décor was so impressive! Even the outside smoking area on decking was unique and had huge four poster beds and canopies around the edge, complete with a bar in the middle.

Chipmunk came on stage at 1am and did a 45 minute-strong set with songs from the new album (‘Flying High’, ‘Every Gyal’, ‘Foul’ to name a few). He really worked the crowd well and was supported by a full band which made the whole set that much more authentic.

Chip was also joined by rapper Skepta and also Grime MC Wretch 32who features on Chip’s latest album Transition (sadly no Chris Brown Keri Hilson or Trey Songz though… who also feature on his new album). Also a relatively unknown rapper called Sneakbo joined in who Chip assures us will become massive over the next year.

The crowd went wild when Wretch 32 also performed his recent UK Top 10 hit Traktor which Chipmunk was more than willing to join in with. The stage was large and the lighting and dry ice effects were superb. The set finished with his #2 smash hit Champion, a climax which the crowd loved.

We received VIP wristbands so watched the show from the VIP area at the very top of the club. We were partying with the likes of Belle Amie (girl band from last series of The X Factor) and also Esmee Denters who is signed to Justin Timberlake’s record label and has collaborated with him as well as Chipmunk on Until You Were Gone.

Once Chipmunk had finished his set, he soon arrived in the VIP area, and I was lucky enough to meet him and got a quick photo of us together.

Overall I had a great time and didn’t get back to our hotel until 6am Saturday morning.

It was an immense night.
