Get ready for the dream team! In January, 2014 a new movie with a fantastic cast will be meeting the audience. George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman and Bill Murray are just some of the names that can attract your attention in the cast of The Monuments Men.
Based on a true story, The Monuments Men is about a team who embark on an adventure in order to get back the very precious art pieces that have been stolen by the Nazis. Far away from their homes, these heroes face violence, terror, action and certainly the brutal face of the war.
The trailer of The Monuments Men begins with the speech of George Clooney in order to familiarize the audience with the plot. He basically explains their aim, which is to protect the art and also the culture of a generation. During the very first seconds, the conditions and effects of the WWII are hinted in a brief scene and throughout the trailer the atmosphere of the war is displayed with some long shots while the bombs explode and the warplanes fly above.
…warplanes, bombs and antagonists…
In the trailer, the members of this heroic team are also introduced. Beside George Clooney and Matt Damon, Bill Murray as an architecture and John Goodman as a sculpture welcome the curious audience. In addition, Bob Balaban and Jean Dujardin also have roles as the experts from different fields of art.
In the shade of warplanes, bombs and antagonists, this very unlikely team’s way obviously crosses with Rose Valland who is played by Cate Blanchett. Known as the actress of the cold and the distant roles, Cate Blanchett’s character looks like an indifferent and snob woman at first. Though it seems like these heroes will sweat a lot to get her help, the trailer hints that she will accept the collaboration at one point.
…this movie will not be a total drama…
Another impression, which the trailer of The Monuments Men gives, is the action always goes on in the movie. The challenges the heroes face might make it more and more exciting throughout the journey. It is also likely that there may be some emotional scenes in The Monuments Men. Will each character survive until the end of the movie? Are there going to be losses at some turning points? It is not possible to find answers to these questions from the trailer since that would spoil the movie and break the spell. However, for a more impressive and realistic ending, it may be better if the movie does not let all the heroes survive at the end since generally the great success is accompanied by the painful losses.
The trailer also demonstrates that this movie will not be a total drama. Especially the physical training scenes of these men are likely to make the audience laugh. Just imagine Bill Murray or John Goodman in one of those scenes! In actual fact, in the first half of the trailer, we are given a short scene, in which Bill Murray tries to climb up the wall clumsily and falls. This is just to give a taste and prepare the audience for a both epic and funny story.
…introducing such an amazing cast…
The Monuments Men is calling the audience for an exciting adventure. By introducing such an amazing cast and promising for a never-ending action in its trailer, it arouses the audience’s curiosity and encourages them to see the movie. Are they going to succeed? Will they all survive? Is the art going to be saved? There is one way to answer all these questions and satisfy your curiosity: Just reserve a ticket for The Monuments Men!
