Prince William and Kate Middleton sealed their royal wedding with two kisses on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

After the service at Westminster Abbey, they were greeted by 500,000 well wishers who gathered in front of the Palace. The kiss was greeted with deafening cheers and the demand for more.

The bride, who will now be Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was then driven by Prince William in his father’s blue Aston Martin back to Clarence House. The car was decorated with ribbons, balloons, an ‘L’ plate and “Just Wed” on the license plate.

The service was watched by 1,900 guests and all ran smoothly. Guests included David Cameron and wife Samantha, David and Victoria Beckham, Sir Elton John with partner David Furnish, Rowan Atkinson and Guy Ritchie.

The much anticipated bridal dress that was kept secret was an ivory and lace gown by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The Prince who has been given the title The Duke of Cambridge by the Queen wore the red tunic of an Irish Guards colonel, which is his most senior honorary appointment.

The bride walked up the aisle of red carpet lined with trees to coronation anthem, “I Was Glad”, by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, from Psalm 122. Kate’s brother James gave the lesson, reading Romans 12: 1-2, 9-18.

300 close friends and family attended the formal black tie dinner and disco hosted by Prince Charles last night. Hundreds of street parties were organised across the country as the rest of the nation joined them in their celebrations.
