The feeling seems very similar for Arsenal fans. Another trophy less season. After the 5th round defeat to Blackburn in the FA Cup, that all but makes it 8 years without silverware for the North London team and Arsenal fans are losing faith in Arsene Wenger and the team.

With a 3-1 defeat in the Champions League knockout stages, the fans can’t be feeling confident in any way knowing they must surpass an almost insurmountable lead against Bayern Munich on their way to the UCL title.

Bayern outplayed Arsenal in every way at the Emirates and proved to be the better team right from the get go. Goals from Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic all but sealed the deal to see Arsenal off in the Knockout stages.

…arguably better than last seasons team…

This Bayern team is arguably better than last seasons team which reached the UCL final last year and the stats so far prove that claim.

Bayern are in incredible form as of late and this proved right against the Gunners. Their record in the UCL and league speak for itself:

Won all 5 matches in 2013 without conceding a goal, scoring 13
Won their last 6 away matches without conceding a goal
Scored in their last 12 champions league games
9 different scorers in the group stages
Allowed opponents only 17 shots on target in group stages

Bayern Munich are currently top of the Bundesliga, 15 points ahead of 2nd place. Arsenal are in 5 place currently 21 points behind Manchester United. Arsenal have a goal difference of +21 and Bayern have a goal difference of +50 in their league. Bayern Munich have only conceded 1 goal away from home in the Bundesliga while Arsenal have conceded 11.

To put it simply, Bayern will finish the job against Arsenal in the second leg. The Gunners are a team in crisis whilst Bayern are in the form of their lifetime. Arsenal will have to hope for a miracle because of the 3-1 deficit and also coming up against a team with Ribery. Robben, Gomez, Muller etc is scary enough for any team to face.

…the same old story for the Gunners…

This tie has so far proven to be too much to handle for this Arsenal team and its looking like the same old story for the Gunners as they will most likely crash out to eventual Champions League winners Bayern Munich.
