Chelsea have missed out on a number of high-class targets this transfer window.

For some reason or another they have chosen France over the allure of Premier League Football.

With Wayne Rooney finding out he will be backup to Robin Van Persie at Manchester United, Chelsea have pounced on the situation. They have already failed with a bid for the unsettled striker and now The Special One says he is the only transfer target this summer for the blues.

…has been demoted…

As much as I don’t want to disagree with Mr Mourinho there are many reasons why Wayne Rooney has been demoted at United. He’s no longer the player he was. He lacks pace, he ‘s scores fewer goals and the question remains can he gel with the creative midfield dynamo of Mata, Oscar and Hazard.

There are also suggestions Chelsea will be breaking the wage barrier bringing him to Stamford Bridge. Surely this will only unsettle other players at the club who will demand their wages match that of Rooney.

…Chelsea have a weak front line…

Without a shadow of doubt, Chelsea have a weak front line. With the likes of a tired Demba Ba, a young up-and-comer in Romelu Lukaku and well, Fernando Torres, where are the goals going to come from this season? Whoever comes into fill this void will need to be aware that, they are the difference between Chelsea winning the league and Chelsea chasing Manchester rivals.
