Many of us will know the New Zealand based clothing label Canterbury as the sporting brand that has supplied some of the greatest Rugby and Cricket teams from around the world, but did you know they now boast a collegiate Lifestyle collection for the every-man?

For the launch of their Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Canterbury took up residents in a POP-Up shop just off the aptly named Rugby Street on Lambs Conduit Street.  This is a fashionable post code and the perfect alternative to Carnaby Street with its independent boutiques and a genuine sense of community.

…an old boys locker room feel, dirty boots and rugby memorabilia…

The shop itself decorated with an old boys locker room feel, dirty boots and rugby memorabilia is a familiar and welcoming space.  The collection is a popular blend of American preppiness with a nod towards the established brands rich sporting heritage.  The staff are friendly and not so cool that you feel out of place.  Get them talking and they might recommend a decent sample sale.

The whole range is dominated by colour with fitted check shirts, brushed cotton chino’s and the kind of large knit cardigans and hoodies that your girlfriend will buy for you but keep for herself.  The trend driven silhouettes and quality fabrics come at a fair price point.  I had my eye on the Pukerua Bay Limited Edition Baseball jacket, but I don’t think I’ve the confidence to pull it off.  Each piece decorated with the subtle branding of a Kiwi bird, more a sign of quality than ego.

…original with a longer shelf life.

With fashion trends changing every week for the fickle, one touch generation, the Canterbury POP-Up shop is something a little more original with a longer shelf life.  So I say, avoid the tourists on Oxford Street and look out for the Kiwi bird along Lambs Conduit.  A reassuring sign of quality from the iconic New Zealand rugby brand.

Canterbury is on Sale now, up to 50% OFF online and at 47 Lambs Conduit Street, WC1N 3NG.  Keep an eye on for the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection plus there will soon be a Lifestyle range for ladies.
