The long school holidays will soon be upon us, which will leave many parents wondering what on earth they can possibly do to keep their kids entertained. Why not use the opportunity to explore the historic city of London and show your little ones everything it has to offer. So what are the top five things to do with the family in London?
The sightseeing stroll
If you want to pack in some great London sights while avoiding the hustle and bustle of the streets, this is the perfect walk for you, your partner and the kids. Hop on the tube to Queensway station and you’ll find yourself at the top of Hyde Park. Take a kite, a frisbee and a picnic and enjoy the large open spaces – a welcome retreat from the urban sprawl. Once you’ve spent some time in the park, walk to the other end and cross the road under the Wellington Arch towards St James’s Park.
Stroll down the large public footpath and you’ll exit right next to Buckingham Palace, the perfect spot for a family photo and a chance for the kids to say a big “Hello” to the Queen. Carry on through the park to St James’s Park Lake, where the kids can look at the ducks and swans and other wildlife. Finally, you’ll emerge at the the Palace of Whitehall, where opportunities for photos with the Horse Guards present themselves.
